Mr. Claassen has over 33 years of experience in the commercial design and construction industry. Peter began as an architect with a national firm specializing in technical design followed by his role with a premier real estate development firm as the Director of Design and Construction on a national portfolio of buildings gives. In his pure construction role, Peter’s unique ability to work through all aspects of the design and construction process has led impressive list of repeat clients focusing on projects requiring a higher level of detail and problem solving.
NEW CONSTRUCTION / MAJOR BUILDING RENOVATION:
WESTIN HOTEL, Santa Clara
502 rooms, bar, high scale restaurant, exterior façade and pool. Complete renovation of an operating hotel and meeting center maintaining 95% occupancy and critical profitability goals of the hotel. Extensive planning and coordination of construction trades 24/7 and hotel operators and guests. Two week turn-over per floor consisting of 44 rooms. The bar and restaurant included all new kitchen equipment and high-end architectural finishes throughout. Installation of a new pool and creation of an 8,000 s.f. out-door patio and entertaining area.
CREEKSIDE OAKS OFFICE PARK, Sacramento
120,000 s.f. exterior modernization project enhancing the building entries with new architectural atriums of glass curtain wall at each of four buildings. Redesign and installation of all new site landscaping and amenities.
IDEALAB, Palo Alto
15,000 s.f. Renovation and conversion of an existing barrel roof , cannery facility to a modern incubator type “think tank” R&D building. Complete upgrade of electrical services. New structural and roof system to support new mechanical infrastructure and seismic upgrade. Interiors consisted of unique architectural surfaces, radius walls, and open ceilings with pendant lighting.
TENANT IMPROVMENT / SPECIALTY PROJECTS:
CHONG PARTNERS ARCHITECTURE (STANTEC), San Francisco
40,000 s.f. LEED Gold high profile corporate office interiors. Chong Partners was a “pilot project” for the USGBC LEED CI certification path and the first LEED Gold office project in San Francisco. The project encompassed all aspects of sustainable design while creating a most dynamic work environment. The interior included an abundance of natural light and interior glazing, along with the artistic use of specialized millwork, flooring and ceiling treatments.
CALPINE, San Jose
50,000 s.f. high profile corporate office interiors. This Class A executive office project included extensive use of interior wood wall treatment and interior glazing. Specialty lighting and AV controls in all conference and board rooms. Computer IT rooms with isolated AC and fire suppression.
BORLAND HEADQUARTERS, Cupertino
70,000 s.f. high profile corporate office interiors. Included design build, fast-track delivery process. Scope of work included executive office, board rooms, conference rooms, open office area, labs and computer IT room.v

STANFORD UNIVERSITY – SCHWAB CENTER DINING BUILDING, Palo Alto
Complete demolition and reconstruction for the Graduate School of Business - Schwab Center’s “World Renown” Dining Center for Chef Raul Lacara. Fast track construction over New Year holiday season. New kitchen layout with all new utilities and new and renewed kitchen equipment. New 600 s.f. storage building, extended private dining courtyard, new walk-in cooler/freezers, new liquor storage and employee locker room. Structural building upgrades required for the installation of roof top equipment and interior renovations. |
